Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM) Consultation

A new perspective on health, healing, and your body's unique needs.

A deeper conversation about your health

Our Traditional Chinese Medicine Consultation is designed for patients who want to explore a deeper understanding of their health beyond symptom relief.

In the community acupuncture treatment room, we keep conversations brief so everyone can relax and receive treatment. But many patients ask deeper questions like:

“What else could I be doing to support my health?”

“How does an acupuncturist view my condition?”

“Are there lifestyle or nutrition changes that could help?”

This service creates space for those conversations.

During your visit, you’ll receive a comprehensive consultation with one of our Licensed Acupuncturists, plus a community acupuncture treatment. Together, these offer both insight and immediate support for your body.

TCM CONSULTATION PRICING:

$175, includes a comprehensive consultation (approximately 45 minutes), plus a community acupuncture treatment. Any herbs prescribed are an additional charge.

Why choose a TCM Consultation?

Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM) offers a unique perspective on health.

Instead of looking at symptoms in isolation, TCM examines patterns within the body and how different systems influence one another.

Practitioners evaluate the balance of Yin and Yang, the relationships between the Five Elements, and the flow of Qi (vital energy) through the body’s channel pathways. Organ systems are understood differently than in Western medicine — each system reflects physical, emotional, and energetic functions that work together as an integrated whole.

In this way, the body is viewed as a microcosm of nature, constantly responding to internal and external influences.

Your practitioner will consider factors such as:

  • Current symptoms and health concerns
  • Full health history
  • Nutrition and digestion
  • Sleep patterns and energy levels
  • Stress and emotional patterns
  • Family and environmental influences

When we understand these patterns, seemingly unrelated symptoms often begin to make sense — and a clearer path toward healing can emerge.

What to Expect During Your Visit

Your visit will last about two hours and includes three parts:

1

In-depth consultation (about 45 minutes)

First, we'll have a comprehensive conversation about you and your health goals. We’ll talk about your health history, current symptoms, diet and digestion, sleep and energy, emotional stressors, and environmental and lifestyle factors. This helps us understand the bigger picture of your health through a Traditional Chinese Medicine lens.

2

Community acupuncture treatment

After your consultation, you’ll receive an acupuncture treatment in our relaxing community treatment room. This allows you to experience the immediate benefits of acupuncture while also giving your practitioner an opportunity to begin addressing the patterns discussed during your consultation. You’ll also leave with a clear sense of how often acupuncture treatments may be helpful and for how long.

3

Personalized recommendations

At the end of your visit, you’ll receive individualized guidance tailored to your health goals. Recommendations may include Chinese herbal medicine, nutrition and dietary suggestions, movement and exercise guidance, self-care practices, and seasonal lifestyle recommendations. Many patients appreciate having a clear, practical plan they can begin implementing right away.

Chinese Herbal Medicine

Chinese herbal medicine is one of the core pillars of Traditional Chinese Medicine and is often recommended during consultations.

Herbal formulas are customized to support the patterns identified during your visit and can work alongside acupuncture to support long-term healing.

Herbs are optional and not required if you prefer not to take them. If recommended, they can be purchased separately and are not included in the consultation fee.

Frequently Asked Questions

What does a TCM Consultation include?

Your visit lasts about two hours and includes three parts: 1) An in-depth consultation (about 45 minutes) to discuss your health history, symptoms, lifestyle, and health goals; 2) A community acupuncture treatment in our relaxing treatment room; 3) Personalized recommendations that may include Chinese herbs, nutrition guidance, lifestyle suggestions, self-care practices, and treatment planning.

A TCM Consultation is ideal for people who want a deeper conversation about their health and more guidance beyond acupuncture treatments alone. It’s a great fit if you’ve been wondering why certain symptoms and changes are happening in your body, and what else you could be doing to support your health. Many patients choose this service when they want a clearer understanding of their health from a Traditional Chinese Medicine perspective.

No. Both new and existing patients can schedule a TCM Consultation. Many current patients choose this service when they want to step back and take a more comprehensive look at their health, explore additional treatment options, or receive more detailed lifestyle and herbal recommendations.

Yes. Your consultation includes a full community acupuncture treatment. After your consultation conversation, you’ll move into the treatment room to receive acupuncture so we can begin addressing the patterns identified during your visit.

Community acupuncture visits focus on acupuncture treatment, with a brief check-in about how you’re feeling. The TCM Consultation provides much more time for discussion, allowing your practitioner to explore your health history, lifestyle, emotional patterns, and long-term goals in depth. You’ll also receive more detailed and personalized recommendations.

Chinese herbal medicine is often recommended because it’s an important part of Traditional Chinese Medicine. Herbs can be very helpful for supporting long-term healing. However, herbs are optional. If you prefer not to take them, your practitioner can focus on acupuncture, nutrition, and lifestyle recommendations instead.

No special preparation is required. Just come as you are. It can be helpful to think about your main health concerns, current medications or supplements, and any recent diagnoses or test results. But if you don’t have everything organized, that’s completely okay — your practitioner will guide the conversation and help gather the information needed during the visit.

Yes. One of the goals of the TCM Consultation is to help you feel more clear and supported in how to move forward. By the end of your visit, you’ll have a better understanding of your health through a Traditional Chinese Medicine perspective and a set of personalized recommendations. These may include acupuncture frequency, herbal medicine, nutrition guidance, lifestyle adjustments, and simple self-care practices you can begin right away.

The TCM Consultation is intended to be a one-time conversation to guide a long-term plan for your health. If you experience significant changes to your health, we may suggest a follow-up consultation. But for most patients, only one consultation is needed.
